Garden of Bees

Each piece begins with an unexpected foundation: artificial turf, creating a literal and symbolic base of “synthetic nature.” Over this, a layer of plexiglass is placed, becoming the surface where the garden is brought to life. Using fast, expressive acrylic painting, I build energetic bursts of color, splatter, and gestural marks that echo the chaos, vibrancy, and beauty of a living garden. Though the strokes feel spontaneous and wild, the compositions are carefully considered and intentionally designed.

Once the imagery is complete, the work is sealed in epoxy resin. The resin creates a smooth, glasslike surface that visually flattens the layers while introducing a luminous sense of depth. It also produces a subtle “wet” effect, like fresh rain resting on grass and petals. Intentional puddling within the epoxy enhances the illusion of water, making the garden feel alive, touched by weather, and suspended in a perpetual moment after rainfall.
